What is Bridges to Learning 2008?
Bridges To Learning 2008 is Canada’s only national technology and education conference on applying technology
to literacy curricula goals where you can actually learn by using the technology, not just by watching a presentation.
It happens May 16th and 17th 2008 with a pre-conference May 15th at the
University of Toronto, Mississauga campus
For the 16th-17th you can chose from more than 35 different educational sessions by presenters from right across Canada on:
- Assessment strategies
- Literacy teaching with interactive whiteboards, free software and Web 2.0.
- AT in Secondary Classrooms -- Universal Design for Learning
- Marrying assistive technology with standardized testing
Plus hands-on computer presentations and labs run by expert Canadian educators and representatives from Kurzweil (NEW Kurzweil USB),
IntelliTools (the NEW Classroom Suite 4) Don Johnston (Co:Writer, Draft:Builder), Mayer-Johnson (the NEW SymWriter Symbol-Word Processor,
symbol supported web browsing and Boardmaker Plus) and Crick (Clicker 5).

This conference is an opportunity to experience practical application of technology for students of all needs. It is ideal for:

Dr. Karen Erickson
is leading our May 15th pre-conference
focusing on literacy instruction for students with more complex physical and cognitive challenges.
She will also be delivering our keynote, Choosing Technologies for Literacy: Matching Tools with Student Language and Literacy Profiles.
Our presenters include not just leading educators and technologists from across the country but internationally renowned figures such as Arjan Khalsa,
founder of IntelliTools on the new Classroom Suite 4, David Bradburn from Kurzweil, Kevin Johnston from Don Johnston and more.

Where will it take place?
The Bridges To Learning Conference and Pre-conference will take place on the University of Toronto,
beautiful Mississauga campus. Located minutes from downtown Mississauga, convenient to Toronto’s Pearson
International Airport and easily accessible to and from downtown Toronto, the campus offers a peaceful
and unique environment for the exchange of ideas.
Presentations will take place in state of the art lecture halls and computer labs for hands-on tech training.
Seminar attendees can stay right on campus in four-bedroom, air-conditioned, apartment suites furnished with linens, soap, towels etc.
