Alberta Education LRC Adds Co:Writer, Read:Outloud

Bridges is pleased to announce that two assistive technology tools:

Read:OutLoud, an accessible text reader with reading comprehension support; and

Co:Writer, a word prediction tool that

helps students write with correct spelling and grammar;

-- will be available through Alberta Education LRC within the Educational Assistive Technology for Reading and Writing category.

Alberta Education, in consultation with stakeholders establishes a series of Education Standing Offers (ESOs) for technology products. The ESO system enables jurisdictions to acquire selected technology products from a centralized product catalog at education pricing levels that would not be available using independent purchasing arrangements. New ESO are currently being established for the following products:

Electronic whiteboards
Laptop/desktop/mobility products
Projection devices
Educational assistive technology for reading and writing
Videoconferencing devices

As each new offer is approved, it will be made available to Alberta Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools through the Learning Resources Centre (LRC). To order from the LRC, you must have an account number, user ID and password. Your school LRC account administrator (e.g. principal, secretary, purchaser) can create an account for you. Otherwise, please email your request to lrccustserv@gov.ab.ca and indicate your name, title, school name and phone number.
